Winter Voices - Singing Workshop

Singing together is excellent for raising spirits, particularly through the colder and darker months. It regulates our bodies and minds and brings a sense of wellbeing.

During the day we will;

Stretch to release tension and learn to prepare our bodies for a healthy voice.

Vocal warm ups, breathing exercises and games to release those tricky feelings of self-consciousness.

Sing folk songs, nature songs and rounds to acknowledge winter as a time of rest and regeneration, both in the land and in ourselves. Many of these will be in two- and three-part harmony.

Circle singing and harmony humming.

Take a moment to think about our intentions for the year and sing them into existence (this will be fully supported and there is no need to sing alone if you don't want to).

Your teacher  

My name is Pearl and I've spent a number of years delving into the depths of voice and song.  My strongest interests are in song as a community-builder and tool for wellbeing.  I have studied vocal improvisation and I am forever delving deeper into intuitive music theory, as well as learning from a more technique based theory.  

My personal music taste leans towards folk music from our own fair isles, America, Europe and Africa and so I mostly teach folk songs from these cultures, as well as songs of earth and nature.  

I have run sing-arounds, courses, workshops and campfire singing sessions.

Last Details:

7th January 10am-4pm Woodchester Village Hall, with breaks for tea and lunch.

Tea will be provided. Bring lunch and snacks. 

You are encouraged to drink plenty of water the day before so you're fully hydrated.
